For their new coffee machine, Cremesso needed a simple way to communicate the special properties of their product. The machine has a special brewing-pause mechanism, which enables the aroma to unfold in an even better way. We developed several proposals, from which the client chose a rather simple idea that illustrates the USP in a clear and direct way. For the visual, we obtained product pictures to work with. The main exercise was to add glasses filled with coffee in three stages. For this purpose, I rendered several layers of reflections and refractions to meld the CGI- generated glasses with the actual pictures and the separately rendered coffee. An important part was getting the light setting right to give the glasses some interesting reflections while making them appear natural within their environment. To achieve a tasty look for the cream in the espressos, I hand-painted the coffee texture, with cream sinking in small stages. This project was fun!
